Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Slack's 4th grade students have been reading, The Tuskegee Airman in class. Students were excited to see the painting of the African American General Davis and His Redtails during their visit to The Ohio Statehouse. The 4th grade classes dressed up for the field trip and enjoyed this opportunity of learning.
Due to Wednesday's water break, clean drinking water will be brought into the school. Students are also allowed to bring a bottle of their own water if so desired. Thursday is also a 2 hour early release for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
Union Furnace recently welcomed Deputy Allen. Deputy Allen has quickly fit into the Union Furnace Family. Each day Deputy Allen greets students as they enter the building, watches over them during recess and patrols the school grounds. All have come to enjoy working with her in such a short time. We are very happy to have her working with our youth and securing our building.
Union Furnace welcomed their first student run bank.The Chieftain Credit Union. Students work the bank every week practicing money and job skills. UF is proud of the student leaders who interviewed for the positions. They completed a job application, asked their teachers for a letter of reference and dressed up for an interview. Kindergarten students enjoyed dressing up for the 100th day of school. They also enjoyed sharing their 100 items with their peers in class. Such fun times for all!
Union Furnace will be opening the Chieftain Credit Union, Wednesday, January 29th. This is a free program where students may save pennies at a time while being rewarded for their savings with special treats. Students from the 3rd and 4th grade interviewed for this job and will actually work the bank themselves. The bank will be open every Wednesday. To open an account, contact the school about the application process.
Support kindness the week of Jan. 27-31st Monday shine bright for kindness and wear bright colors. Tuesday mix it up for kindess and wear mismatched clothes. Wednesday go crazy and rock some crazy hair. Thursday be super and wear a superhero shirt. Friday show your love for kindness week and wear red and/or hearts.
UF families please send your child with a water bottle on Friday, January 17. We are on a boil alert. We also have clean water brought in. Friday we are also beating the winter blues by wearing bright colors!!!
Today Deputy Phil visited Union Furnace K-2 classes. Deputy Phil shared lessons about safey through comedy and magic tricks. The students learned while giggling at his jokes. What a fun presentation on safety!
Union Furnace is operating with a clean water supply that was brought in within minutes of the waterline break in the area. Students may bring a waterbottle to school tomorrow as there is a boil order until 4:00 on Thursday, Dec. 12. December 12 is DRESS YOUR BEST for our Holiday Luncheon. The cafeteria will be decorated and all are encouraged to dress up for Thursday's luncheon.
