LHMS Announces Art Winners

The Ohio Art Education Association recently announced the winners in this yearís Youth Art Month (YAM) and Young Peopleís Art Exhibition (YPAE). Each year, the Logan-Hocking Middle School Art Teachers submit five works of art to be judged from schools across the state of Ohio. From those five artworks, one artwork is selected for each exhibit.
Mrs. Roxanna Lehmanís winners include Emma Hinton and Heidi Wahl. Emma is a fifth grader at Logan-Hocking Middle school who created a linear pattern squirrel with marker and colored pencil. Heidi is a sixth grader at Logan-Hocking Middle School who created a transformational character in tempera paint.
Mrs. Heather Hackerís winners include Jonah McAfee and Zoe Green. Jonah is a seventh grader at Logan-Hocking Middle School and he created a watercolor dog inspired by the artist George Rodrigue. Zoe Green is a seventh grader at Logan-Hocking Middle School and she created a bug print by using a monoprint process.
Mrs. Suzanne Oldhamís winners include Lilah Bell and Kaylee Cox. Lilah is a sixth grader at Logan-Hocking Middle School who created a surrealism project with various watercolor techniques. The design was inspired by artist Jean Miro, using a continuous line doodle. Kaylee is a fifth grader at Logan-Hocking Middle School who created a self-portrait collage with a warm color background.
This yearís awards recognition assembly will be held on Saturday, March 7th in Columbus, Ohio. The YAM reception is held at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower and the YPAE reception is held at the State Teachers Retirement Building. Both exhibits will be on display for the month of March since March is used to celebrate Youth Art Month.
