On Thursday, February 6, 2020 the Chief Logan FFA chapter competed in the District 10 Public Speaking and Agricultural Sales Contests at Southern High School in Racine, Ohio. The chapter had seven students competing in different events which included Creed, Advanced Prepared, and Extemporaneous Speaking as well as Agricultural Sales.

Sarah Leon participated in the Creed speaking contest, which involves delivering the FFA Creed and answering questions about the creed. Breanna Roop competed in the Advanced Prepared speaking contest, which involves delivering a six to eight minute speech that has been written and memorized ahead of time. Justin Wilkins competed in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest which required him to pull a topic from a hat and deliver a four to six minute speech after only 30 minutes of research and preparation.

Roop placed fifth in Advanced Prepared, and Wilkins placed first in the Extemporaneous Speaking and will advance to state. Leon also placed first and will advance to state. Wilkins and Leon will be traveling to Marysville High School to compete in the State Public Speaking contest on March 7, 2020. Good luck to those students.

Also competing on February 6th was the Agricultural Sales team which consisted of Andrea Klingelhafer, Casey Leach, Eli Stallsmith, and Wesley Stumbo. Each student performed a mock scenario where they sold an agricultural product to a potential buyer. The students also had to complete a team activity which involved preparing a sales call. Additionally, the team took an online test on January 28th. The team did well and placed fourth in the district.

A great job was done by all.
